Vaguit Alekperov, president and founder of the large Russian oil company Lukoil, resigned on Thursday from all his positions in the company, the company announced.
“The president and member of the board of directors of Lukoil, V. Alekperov, announced his decision to resign from office,” according to a statement not explaining the reasons for this resignation.
The billionaire was included in a list of Russian personalities sanctioned by the United Kingdom and Australia.
Alekperov has been running Lukoil since 1993 and is one of the most powerful oil tycoons in Russia.
