In an old and beloved magazine from more than fifty years ago I found a harangue to imitate the behavior of dogs that I thought was right for the maelstrom we live in.
If we follow this canine philosophy, perhaps, we could be better people and still be friends with dogs
Have you ever imagined yourself acting with the wisdom of the dog?
20 tips to try:
1. Never miss the opportunity to go for a walk.
2. Experience the sensation of fresh air and wind on your face for pure pleasure.
3. When someone you love approaches, run to greet them.
4. Whenever necessary, practice obedience.
5. Let others know when they are invading your territory.
6. Whenever you can take a nap and wake up when you get up.
7. Run, jump and play every day.
8. Eat at ease and enthusiasm, but stop when you are satisfied.
9. Be loyal, always.
10. Don't ever pretend to be something you're not.
11. If what you want is buried, dig until you find it.
12. If someone close to you is having a bad day, stay silent, sit close to him/her and try to please him/her.
13. When it catches your eye, let that someone touch you.
14. Avoid biting when only a small protest could solve it.
15. On mild days, lie on your back on the grass.
16. On very hot days, drink plenty of water and rest under a leafy tree.
17. When you feel happy, dance and shake your whole body.
18. No matter how many times you are censored, don't assume blame you don't have, don't get bad and immediately run back to your friends.
19. Rejoice with the simple pleasure of a walk.
20. Be happy with your dog life and practice it forever.
Dogs don't kill for pleasure, they don't abandon their young, they don't cheat, they don't trade in the misery of others...
The next time you are called an animal, don't be offended, turn around, smile and say, “Thank you!”
