The Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) recorded a gain of 2.03% on Friday in its main indicator, reaching 55,467.06 points, in order to impose a new all-time high.
The previous record was 54 thousand 364.51 points, which was reached last Thursday, a gain of 1.78%.
During the week, the Mexican Stock Exchange Price and Quotes Index (CPI), its main indicator, “recorded a gain of 4.06%, its greatest increase since the second week of January 2021,” Banco Base analyst Alfredo Sandoval explained to Efe.
“With this week's performance, the CPI reached an all-time high in Thursday's session and again in Friday's session, passing the 55,000 points mark for the first time,” he added.
The specialist said that “of the 35 major broadcasters that make up the BMV index, 24 showed gains.”
He noted that the best performing stations for the week were Grupo Carso (+19.62%), Inbursa (+18.43%), Banorte (+14.82%), Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (+8.69%) and Banco del Bajio (+7.40%).
On the other hand, he said that the companies with the highest losses were Alfa (-5.82%), Vesta (-5.55%), Quálitas (-4.46%) and Kimberly-Clark from Mexico (-2.90%).
With the progress of this day, the CPI accumulates a year-to-date return of 4.12%.
On the day, the Mexican peso appreciated 0.63% against the dollar, trading at 20.37 units per greenback on the interbank market.
The CPI closed at 55 thousand 467.06 units with a gain of 1,102.55 points and a positive variation of 2.03% compared to the previous session.
The volume traded on the market reached 897.3 million securities for an amount of 50 677 million pesos.
Of the 678 companies listed on the day, 407 ended up with their prices rising, 249 had losses and 22 closed unchanged.
The securities with the greatest increase were held by the airline Aeromexico (AEROMEX) with 61,284%; the industrial consortium Grupo Carso (GCARSO A1) with 7.53%, and the Grupo Financiero Banorte (GFNORTE O), with 7.31%.
In contrast, the securities with the greatest downward variation were from Value Grupo Financiero (VALUEGF O), with -5.75%; the financial intermediary Credito Real (CREAL) with -5.51%, and the oil company Vista Oil & Gas (VISTA A), with -4.57%.
Three sectors won during the day, industrial (2.02%), finance (0.2%) and materials (1.17%); and only one lost, frequent consumption (-0.8%).
At last Thursday's session, the companies with the highest gains were Grupo México (+5.92%) due to the increase in industrial metals prices, in addition to Banorte (+5.53%) and Kimberly-Clark from Mexico (+5.43%).
