The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has announced its shortlist for May's Athlete of the Month award, and the public can now vote for the winner via the poll on the www.Paralympic.org homepage.
The month's nominees include:
Marieke Vervoort (Belgium):
Paralympic champion Vervoort bounced back from an injury doctors were doubtful she would ever recover from in incredible style at the IPC Athletics Grand Prix in Nottwil, Switzerland, setting a new 5,000m world record and 800m T52 European record.
Yui Kamiji (Japan):
At just 20 years old Kamiji became the first female Japanese world No.1, after winning the Japan Open Super Series, knocking German legend Sabine Ellerbrock off the top spot.
Aled Davies (Great Britain):
The big Brit smashed the 12-year-old discus F42 world record of South African Fanie Lombaard at the IPC Athletics Grand Prix in Grosseto, Italy, with a massive throw of 48.69m.
Dariusz Pender (Poland):
Pender won his first title since July 2013 at the IWAS Wheelchair Fencing Grand Prix in Montreal, regaining world No. 1 status in the men's category A.
Marco Dispaltro (Canada):
Won the gold medal of the 2014 BISFed World Open in Montreal, Canada, as he overcame Brazil's two-time Paralympic champion Dirceu Pinto in a tense battle which needed a golden point to decide the outcome.
The public now has until 12:00 (CEST) on 10 June to vote for which athlete it thought had the best performance last month.
The nominations are compiled from submissions by National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) and International Federations (IFs).
