Eduard Ramonov named June's Allianz Athlete of the Month

Eduard Ramonov has been voted the Allianz Athlete of the Month for June 2015 after helping Russia defend their title in the 2015 Cerebral Palsy Football 7-a-side World Championship.

Eduard Ramonov has been voted the Allianz Athlete of the Month for June 2015 after helping Russia defend their title in the 2015 Cerebral Palsy Football 7-a-side World Championship.

Ramonov scored in five of six matches, and was voted by the coaches as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. His team also received the Fair Play award, voted by match officials on a match-by-match basis. Russia went undefeated in the tournament, and held off Ukraine 1-0 in the final.

Ramonov received 49 per cent of votes in the June polls. Also nominated were Portuguese boccia player Domingos Vieira (37 per cent), Russian wheelchair dancer Maksim Sedakov (8 per cent), British swimmer Bethany Firth (5 per cent) and Dutch wheelchair tennis player Jiske Griffioen (1 per cent).

February - Chris Vos, the Netherlands, Snowboard

March - Maksym Nikolenko, Ukraine, Table tennis

April - Nigel Murray, Great Britain, Boccia

May - Martina Caironi, Italy, athletics
