With two months until the Opening Ceremony, LA 2024 today offers its enthusiastic support for the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games with a new video featuring Brazilian Olympic silver medalist and LA 2024 Athletes’ Advisory Commission member Thiago Pereira. The video is the latest in LA 2024’s social media campaign supporting the Rio Games, along with the committee’s ongoing "Going for Gold" video series that profiles US athletes as they chase their Olympic and Paralympic dreams this summer.

Pereira, a three-time Olympic swimmer who lives and trains in Los Angeles and will be competing in the Rio Games, says in the video: "On behalf of all of us at LA 2024, we want to show our support for the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games. I know that the world will love visiting Rio - the ‘Cidade Maravilhosa’ - and will fully experience the beauty of our land, our culture and our people. Just as the athletes are training hard right now to win medals, there are many people in Rio working hard to make sure that the Games will be a fantastic experience for the athletes, the fans and everybody in the global Olympic Movement. We look forward to celebrating with you of one of the most successful Games in history. See you in Rio!"

Pereira’s narration overlays stunning images of Rio and footage of inspirational Olympic and Paralympic moments.

LA 2024 Vice Chair and Director of Athlete Relations Janet Evans said: "All of us at LA 2024 are excited about the Rio Games this summer and we want to thank everybody at the Rio 2016 Organizing Committee for their work to create an unforgettable experience for the athletes, the fans and everyone else in the global Olympic family. This summer, we look forward to being on the ground to listen, learn and, most importantly, celebrate the Olympic Movement and the greatest athletes in the world. LA 2024's video, starring Thiago Pereira, an athlete who assists us with our own Games planning, is just the latest reflection of our bid’s commitment to the spirit of the Games and to keeping athletes at the center of everything that we do."

Pereira won the silver medal in the 400-meter individual medley at the 2012 London Games and has won more Pan American Games medals than any other athlete in any sport, winning his 22nd and 23rd medals at the most recent 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto. He lives in Los Angeles, trains with USC’s Trojan Swim Club and will be competing on behalf of his native country at the 2016 Rio Games.
