Statement regarding to PyeongChang 2018

"The Japanese Olympic Committee is looking forward to participate in the Olympic Winter

Games PyeongChang 2018 and will be in PyeongChang together with the athletes and the

Japanese Delegation whom have been training and preparing for the past four years.

"As a fellow Asian NOC, I strongly believe in the success of PyeongChang 2018, which is a kick

off of consecutive Olympic Games to be held in Asia, as it continues to Tokyo 2020 and to

Beijing 2022.

"As an IOC Coordination Commission Member for PyeongChang 2018, I have been closely

involved in the process and preparation by the PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the

2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (POCOG), which I know they are at the last stage

progressing well. Also, I know that POCOG will ensure to provide a safe Games for the entire

Olympic Family.

"I am very excited to join the invitation from the IOC to the lighting of the flame in Olympia

for the success of the Games. Through celebrating the power of peace, I believe that POCOG

will host a magnificent Olympic Winter Games."
