(ATR) All areas of the Olympic city are being tested simultaneously.

Rugby held a test event on March 5-6 in Deodoro, while synchronized swimming was at the Maria Lenk Aquatics Center in the Olympic Park on March 2-6.

"I think as we progress we learn a little bit more because the sports are different," Agberto Guimarães said to Around the Rings.

"The needs of the athletes from different sports are quite different, and that puts our team in a state of alert so that we can really be focused on what we have to do for the Games."

For rugby, the event was significant because it was the final test before the sport's reintroduction to the Olympic programfor the first time since 1924. The pitch experience multiple delays before being installed, but the players said the end result was world class.

"I think that this test is good for the organization to see, and when the Olympic games were running problems won’t happen," Mayra Genghini, a member of the Argentinian Rugby team said to ATR. "I don’t like the heat but I like the field. It is very fast to run on."

Synchronized swimming offered organizers a chance to see how the venue will hold another discipline. Diving held a test event at the venue from Feb. 19-24. During the games water polo matches will also be held at Maria Lenk Aquatics center.

"We still have time to correct a lot of things in regards to whatever the athletes or the international federations suggest there is still time to change it and make it perfect," Guimarães added.
