(ATR) The Rio 2016 rowing competition has concluded in sensational style, with athletes and their families taking time out to relax and reflect at the Olympians Reunion Centre (ORC) by EY.

The final day of racing at Lagoa saw two photo finishes, two Olympic champions defend their titles and two new gold medalists crowned.

While wind and inclement weather stopped racing on two days, the overall competition was not affected and the packed crowds were treated each day to great competition.

Great Britain topped the medal tally with three gold and two silver, followed by Germany and New Zealand. Many of the athletes celebrated their successes at the ORC, situated just across the road from the stadium at the Club de Regatas do Flamengo.

Designed as a place for Olympians past and present to get together in Rio, the ORC was today in full flight. Athletes from different nations shared a drink and a laugh, showing the true camaraderie and spirit of the Olympic Games – that fierce competitors on the field of play can be close friends off it.

A rest day will take place at Lagoa Stadium now with canoe/kayak sprint competition getting underway on Monday.
