(ATR) Another milestone in the delivery of the PyeongChang 2018 Olympics and Paralympics is reached when the Main Press Center opens this week.

The MPC in the Alpensia venue cluster will officially open its doors to media on Tuesday, Jan. 9. The opening of the 20,000 square-meter, two-story building will also mark the 30-day countdown to the Winter Games.

PyeongChang 2018 President Hee Beom Lee recently said that South Korea is waiting and ready to welcome the world’s winter sports athletes, according to Yonhap. Lee estimates 95 countries will send about 6,500 athletes and officials to take part in the Games that feature seven sports and 15 disciplines.

The Olympic torch relay will travel to the South Korean capital of Seoul this week on Jan. 13 as it winds its way towards PyeongChang for the Opening Ceremony on Feb. 9. It will make a stop in Incheon prior to Seoul from Jan. 10-12. Incheon hosted the 2014 Asian Games.

The PyeongChang 2018 Olympics will run from Feb. 9-25, followed closely by the Paralympics March 8-18.
