(ATR)A five-time Olympian and IOC member since 1985,Prince Albert II of Monaco is joining thousands around the world demanding action against climate change.
The Prince was the only IOC member among the nearly 150 international heads of state who spoke Monday at the 2015 United Nations climate change conference in Paris. He is the chair ofthe IOC Commission on sustainability and climate.
"Do we have the will to mobilize the financial resources required?" he asked delegates at the meeting.
"The low-carbon economy we can, we must now build, will be the source of a different growth.
"It's the only way. This is the challenge of this century it behooves us all to meet today."

Prince Albert and his family also took part in a World Climate March in Monaco on Sunday ahead of his address at the UN summit.
Albert's wife Princess Charlene, an Olympic swimmer, and their twins Jacques and Gabriella led over 1,000 campaigners from the Palace Square to the Stadium Louis II in Fontvieille. Pole-vaulting legend and IOC member Sergey Bubka also participated in the march.
The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, established in 2006, helps campaign for the conservation of the world's natural environment, with the main focus on climate change, biodiversity and water management.
Last week, the annual Peace and Sport International Forum was held in Monaco, an organization supported by the patronage of the Prince.
