(ATR) The Swedish Olympic Committee says it is still considering a bid by Stockholm to host the 2026 Winter Olympics.

A spokesperson tells Around the Rings that talks with stakeholders are ongoing.

If a decision is made by February to pursue hosting in 2026, Stockholm would have a powerful tool at its disposal.

The Swedish NOC revealed on Thursday that PyeongChang will mark the first time the country will have its own hospitality house at an Olympics.

The Sweden House will be located in Nations Village in Yongpyong, an area near the Olympic slopes. It is being builtin collaboration with partners including Scania and Discovery.

"It’s a unique opportunity for our competitors, partners and all Swedes on site in PyeongChang to have a home away from home," Peter Reinebo, CEO of the Swedish Olympic Committee, said in a statement.

NOC hospitality houses are the only way the 2026 bid cities will be able to promote their campaigns during the games in South Korea.

Most of the cities thinking about a 2026 bid are in countries that have hospitality houses at the Olympics.

Sion, Switzerland is currently the only city that has officially begun the process to host in 2026.

Other cities contemplating a bid include former Winter Olympic host cities Salt Lake City, Calgary, Lillehammer and Sapporo along with newcomer Erzurum, Turkey.
