(ATR) The 41 National Olympic Committees of the Pan American Sports Organization convene this week in Miami, Florida.

The week-long gathering will primarily feature a NOC best practices seminar and Olympic Solidarity Forum.

The meeting is the first since PASO elected its newest leadership group at its General Assembly at the end of April in Uruguay. PASO chief Neven Ilic will preside over his first official meeting of all the NOCs since his election.

Ilic and the rest of the PASO Executive Committee arrived in Miami on June 10. A workshop was held June 11 before the official symposium begins June 12 with an Executive Committee meeting followed by a welcome reception by the United States Olympic Committee.

The best practices seminar will take place over two days from June 13-14 and will seek to provide PASO delegates with the relevant tools and information to begin preparing athletes for the PyeongChang 2018 and Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

The Olympic Solidarity Forum will be held on June 16 and will be the final event of the week-long session before remaining delegates depart on June 17.

While in Miami, PASO executives will likely discuss progress towards establishing a secondary PASO office in the city that would be easier to access by PASO's 41 NOCs. Around the Rings is told that PASO currently has a few office options to consider before making its final decision.

ATR will be on the scene for the best practices seminar.

Second Beijing 2022 CoComm Underway

The 16-member commission of the IOC to evaluate plans for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics is meeting for the second time in China.

The Beijing 2022 Coordination Commission led by Russian Olympic Committee president Alexander Zhukov began on June 11. The commission will remain in Beijing reviewing progress towards the 2022 edition of the Games until June 13.

Other IOC members on the commission include Rene Fasel, Ivo Ferriani, Gian-Franco Kasper, Juan Antonio Samaranch, C.K. Wu and Angela Ruggiero.

France Hosts FIBA 3x3 World Cup

Fresh off its inclusion into the Tokyo 2020 program, the International Basketball Federation’s fledgling discipline of 3x3 will hold its 2017 World Cup.

The 2017 edition of the event begins on June 17 in Nantes, France and features 20 men’s and women’s teams from atop the 3x3 World Rankings.

The 20 teams are separated into pools of five for group play that only allows eight teams to advance to the knockout rounds.

The six-day tournament also features three individual competitions including the dunk contest, three-point contest and skills challenge.

The tournament concludes with the gold medal game on June 21.

U.S. Open Begins

The best golfers in the world seek to capture the second major golf championship of the 2017 season this week in Wisconsin.

The opening round of the U.S. Open begins June 15 at Erin Hills with Dustin Johnson hoping to retain his U.S. Open championship title from 2016.

The tournament lasts four rounds and concludes on June 18.
