(ATR) Paris 2024 president Tony Estanguet says the sponsorship program is right where it needs to be despite the Covid pandemic.
Estanguet said this week that more than 50 percent of the planned sponsorship budget of €1.1 billion ($1.34 billion) has been secured and "we are still on track on our objective to secure two-thirds of our revenue by the end of 2021".
He says that’s "exactly what we wanted to achieve before the beginning of this crisis" while adding it "is also a good demonstration that this project is very attractive and that companies really want to be part of the project".
Estanguet, speaking at a press conference following the virtual meeting with the IOC Coordination Commission on June 2, says "good discussions" are ongoing at the moment to bring in additional companies.
Two new domestic (second-tier) sponsors, Atos and Cisco, have signed up in recent weeks as cybersecurity partners.
There are currently three top-tier partners: EDF, Groupe BPCE, and Orange.
Tissot a Gold Partner for Lucerne 2021
Tissot signs on as Worldwide Timing and Scoring Partner for the Lucerne 2021 Winter Universiade.
The Swiss company is joining as a gold partner, the highest sponsorship category for the event.

Lucerne 2021 will run from December 11 to 21 and comprises 10 sports to be contested at eight venues in central Switzerland. Around 1600 students aged between 17 and 25 from more than 540 universities in 50 countries are expected to attend.
The pandemic forced the event to be moved from its original dates of January 21 to 31, 2021.
Important Partnership for Mediterranean Games

The agreement, which runs from 2021-2026, is designed to significantly improve the Mediterranean Games and the Mediterranean Beach Games by offering to host cities high-quality technological services to ensure a good organization.
"This agreement, in addition to its essential importance, both economic and operational, comes at a time when World Sport is severely affected by the effects of the pandemic. It also bears a special symbolism, as it coincides with the celebration of the 70 years of the Mediterranean Games," the ICMG President Amar Addadi said in a statement.
The next editions of the Mediterranean Games are scheduled for Oran, Algeria in 2022 and Taranto, Italy in 2026. The Mediterranean Beach Games will be held in Pesaro, Italy in 2023.
