The Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games Bid Committee has today announced Société du Grand Paris (SGP) as an Official Supplier of the bid. SGP is a public institution established by the State to fund and oversee the development of the Grand Paris Express – a subway transport system and the largest infrastructure project in Europe that will serve the Grand Paris region and the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Paris 2024 will utilise SGP’s expertise in transportation planning and development to help shape the Paris 2024 bid and optimise the visitor experience during the Games.
As Official Supplier, Société du Grand Paris will be activated throughout the bid phase by:
§ Opening Fabrique du Métro – an innovation centre that will showcase and explain the Grand Paris Express in Saint-Ouen near the proposed Olympic and Paralympic Village
§ Creating a digital 3D model of venues and sites included in the Paris 2024 bid plan
The Grand Paris Express, which includes 200km of rail, will create four new metro lines and extend two existing lines in Paris. The network will serve 68 stations and will be a catalyst for the construction and development of new housing across the region.
Most of the project will be completed before the proposed date of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games – guaranteeing locals and visitors exceptional transport conditions throughout the city during the Games.
Paris 2024 has already announced 12 bid partners that have contributed approximately 25 million Euros to the project so far. The bid is expecting to make further announcements and complete its partnership programme in the coming weeks.
