(ATR) Paralympic sport leaders are in Rio de Janeiro to celebrate one year to go until the 2016 Games.

International Paralympic Committee president Phil Craven, Brazilian Paralympic Committee president Andrew Parsons, Rio 2016 president Carlos Nuzman, and Rio de Janeiro Mayor Eduardo Paes attended the Paralympic Festival along with an event at the Olympic Park to celebrate the progress of the Arena Futuro on Sept. 7-8.

At both events, Paralympic sports such as sitting volleyball, five-a-side football, goalball, and wheelchair basketball and tennis were showcased.

Craven promised the 2016 Paralympic Games would be the "largest ever," and would seek to change the accessibility barriers that the city of Rio de Janeiro faces through showing the power of social inclusion.
