Olympians are joining the IOC Olympic Partners (TOPs) Games-time sports sessions to share their unique experiences and insights as part of the WOA’s PyeongChang 2018 Chaperone Programme.
The WOA Chaperone Programme was first launched at Sochi 2014. Olympians accompany TOPs key stakeholders and employees to Olympic sporting events giving them inside knowledge of the sport they are seeing and sharing stories about their experiences at the Games. It’s a unique way to view an event and everyone benefits.
Olympians get to network with top influencers within the sporting and business world and they can practice their public speaking skills in a corporate environment, while the TOPs get to give their guests an insider experience of the Games.
Among the Olympians taking part are Korean Olympic short track champions KANG Yun-Mi (Turin 2006) and CHAE Ji-Hoon (Lillehammer 1994 and Nagano 1998), who joined TOYOTA at a short track speed skating session at the Gangneung Ice Arena on Sunday 11 February.
Both Olympians were delighted to share insights about their Olympic journeys, including their gold medal achievements, the technical side of short track and the feelings of the competing athletes. The event was particularly special as they cheered on the gold medal victory of Korean athlete LIM Hyo-Jun in the 1,500m race.
WOA President, Joël Bouzou OLY, said: "The WOA Chaperone Programme provides opportunities for Olympians to remain involved in and connected to the Olympic Games, while also being of benefit to their life transition. We would like to thank the TOPs and the Olympians for their involvement."
At PyeongChang 2018, WOA has been matching Olympians to join INTEL, DOW, TOYOTA, Coca Cola, Bridgestone and ATOS client groups.
