Mongolia NOC 12th President Demchigjav Zagdsuren passed away on April 21st, due to serious illness in Ulaanbaatar at age of 63.

Dr. D. Zagdsuren was born in Numrug county, Zavkhan province in November 24th,1958 in the herdsman's family, consisting of 11 children and graduated Mongolian Medical University, majoring cardiology in 1990 and served as national team doctor for years.

Dr. D. Zagdsuren was longest-serving NOC President during the period of 2001 - 2020 and also he was OCA EB Member and Chairman of Information and Statistics Standing Committee, ANOC Commission Member and Council Member of East Asian Olympic Committees ( EAOC ). Also he lead Mongolian Sports Medicine Federation, Mongolian Weightlifting Federation and Mongolian Paralympic Committee.

Under his leadership Mongolia NOC has fulfilled series of high level development projects, such as construction of "Olympic House" Headquarters, establishment of National Olympic Academy, National Anti Doping Agency and renovation of Olympic museum & library, creation of local Olympic Councils in 21 provinces and 9 districts, first-ever two Olympic gold medals in Bejing-2008, awarding of "Chinggis Khaan World Sports Trophy" to global sporting stars, considerable improving of nationwide Olympic education network, strong support to Team Mongolia, development of NOC management and rising-up its prestige at domestic and international level and many other efficient initiatives.

Dr. Zagdsuren is awarded by "Order of Merit" in sports medicine field, highest distinction by Head of State in 2008. Also , he was decorated by OCA and ANOC Merit Order respectively. He attended 10 Summer and Winter Olympic Games, as team doctor, Chef-de-Mission and Head of Delegation, as well as attended several times IOC and OCA HQ for meeting with President J. Rogge, T. Bach and Sheikh Ahmad. Dr. Zagdsuren was married with Ts.Munkhtogoo and family of 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren.
