(ATR) Six more sport governing bodies have joined the Olympic Channel, bringing the global platform’s federation partners to 91.

Armwrestling, chess, dragon boat, icestocksport, lifesaving and sepaktakraw were announced as partners on Tuesday.

For the IOC-recognized federations and those who are members of the Alliance of Independent Recognised Members of Sport (AIMS) – dragon boat and sepaktakraw – linking up with the Olympic Channel makes perfect sense. It’s the only chance for them to increase their global exposure via the TV platform.

Only two Olympic federations have yet to sign up with the channel in content-sharing agreements – the International Biathlon Union and IAAF.

A spokeswoman for the channel tells Around the Rings that "conversations are ongoing with the IBU and IAAF".

Commenting on the new arrivals, channel general manager Mark Parkman said: "The Olympic Channel provides a platform for the promotion of all sports and athletes within the Olympic Movement.

"We look forward to working together to help expand the reach of these sports and athletes to fans and new audiences around the world."

The channel will work with its new partners on live events and, as it does with its other federation partners, will help to present event coverage, highlights, magazine shows, news coverage and original programming.

Among other coverage, the Olympic Channel is currently providing a live blog and updates on the FINA World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea.

Launched in 2016, the Olympic Channel provides original programming, news, live sports events and highlights, and additional exposure for sports 24 hours a day, 365 days a year in 11 languages.

On Twitter, the platform boasts 374,000 followers.

IOC global TOP sponsors Bridgestone, Toyota and Alibaba are founding partners of the channel.
