D-Day for Italian 2026 Olympic Bid
The CONI executive will meet July 10 in Rome to decide how to proceed with a 2026 Winter Olympic bid. Milan, Turin and Cortina have all submitted files to the Italian NOC ahead of the meeting.
There seems to be a distinct possibility that the bid could be centered in Milan with the two former Winter Olympic host cities handling the snow sports.
Tokyo 2020 Welcomes IOC CoComm
The IOC Coordination Commission gets its latest look at the work on the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics. The commission will meet July 10 to 12, the first of two meetings set for this year.
Australian IOC member John Coates chairs the 16-member panel which is minus one following the death two weeks ago of Irena Szewinska. No word yet on a replacement for Szewinska, IOC member in Poland since 1968.
On June 10, Tokyo and Paris 2024 executives will sign a memorandum of understanding covering cooperation and knowledge sharing.

Minsk Opens Its Doors
Organizers of the 2019 European Games in Minsk will host a briefing for journalists from across the continent July 10 to 12.
It’s the biggest group of media to visit the Belarus capital since it was awarded the event in late 2016. ATR correspondent Brian Pinelli will be on the scene.
New CEO Simon Clegg will be on hand for this briefing. With less than a year to go and little known about the second edition of the games, Clegg and colleagues have a great opportunity to make a positive impression. Clegg knows firsthand the experience of the European Games. He held a similar role in the inaugural 2014 games in Baku.
The 2019 European Games are scheduled for June 21-30.
World Cup Farewell
As if any reminding is needed, France and Belgium meet July 10 in St. Petersburg for a semi-final match. July 11 England and Croatia will battle for the other final spot in Moscow June 11, Final between those winners is July 15 at Luzhniki Stadium.
