Giant Olympic rings are installed under the walkways of Tower Bridge on June 18, 2012 in London, England. The rings measuring 25 metres by 11 metres will be lowered into view later this month ahead of the London 2012 Olympic games.

One Month to London

Around the Rings will be on the scene Wednesday in London as Games organizers celebrate one month to go until the July 27 opening ceremony.

Tower Bridge gets Olympic Rings, the Main Press Center begins to welcome media in LOCOG's biggest venue opening to date, and NBC marks the milestone stateside in a New York City ceremony attended by ATR.

Tuesday Talk

This week’s Tuesday Talk is with IOC head of social media Alex Huot.

In a wide-ranging interview with ATR, he discusses how the IOC is leveraging Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Foursquare ahead of London 2012.

Euro 2012

Euro 2012 winds down this week with semifinals Wednesday in Donetsk and Thursday in Warsaw.

On one side of the draw, it’s Portugal and Spain trying to advance to Sunday’s final in Kiev.

On the other, it's Germany and Italy.

U.S. Olympic Trials

USA’s largest Olympic teams take shape this week at trials for USA Track & Field, USA Swimming and USA Gymnastics.

Athletics events end Sunday in Eugene, Oregon.

Trials for swimming run Monday to Monday in Omaha, Nebraska.

Gymnastics begins Thursday and wraps up Sunday in San Jose, California.

Together, those three teams accounted for 64 of USA’s table-topping 110 total medals at Beijing 2008.

USOC Board Meeting

U.S. Olympic Committee leaders will hold their first formal discussions on a potential Games bid since last month's signing of a new revenue-sharing deal with the IOC.

Last-minute preparations for London are also likely to be discussed at the Board of Directors meeting, scheduled for Thursday morning in San Jose, California.

Hoops Qualifying

FIBA’s final five spots for the women’s Olympic basketball tournament at London 2012 are up for grabs this week in Ankara, Turkey.

Argentina, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Japan, Korea, Mali, Mozambique, New Zealand, Puerto Rico and Turkey are the dozen teams in the hunt.

Play runs Monday through Sunday with first, second and fourth finishers joining Angola, China and four-time defending Olympic champions USA in Group A at the Games.

Brazil, Great Britain, Russia, reigning runner-up Australia as well as the third and fifth teams from Ankara are bound for Group B in London.
