IOC EB Meeting

Thomas Bach's first IOC Executive Board meeting as IOC President is scheduled for December 10 at IOC headquarters in Lausanne. Around the Rings will have on-the-scene coverage of the EB meeting.

The one-day meeting is a primer for the IOC EB brainstorming session in Montreux December 11-14.

Also on tap is the ceremonial handover of the keys to IOC headquarters from former president Jacques Rogge to Bach.The event will take place at the newly renovated Olympic Museum which will be ready to open to the public later this month after being closed for nearly two years.

Sport City Index

The results of the second edition of the Sports City Index will be published on Tuesday.

The Sports City Index survey is presented by Around the Rings and TSE Consulting

Metrics evaluated include public perception of: the city as a host for major sports events, the city having world-class facilities and infrastructure, as well as general attractiveness of the city as a destination.

Olympic curling qualification

Fuessen, Germany will host the curling Olympic qualification tournament December 10-15.

Eight men's teams and seven women's teams will battle it out for the remaining two spots in Sochi.

Competition takes place at the BLZ Arena.

#oqe and #curling are the hashtags for the event.

Women's Handball Championships

Twenty-four teams are facing off in the Women's Handball World Championships.

Competition takes place December 6-22 throughout Serbia.

Norway are the defending champions.

Winter Universiade

Trentino, Italy will host the world's best university wintersport athletes during the Winter Universiade, December 11 - 21.

Around the Rings will be on-the-scene for the Universiade.

All of the Winter Olympic events--except sliding sports--will be contested.
