ANOCA General Assembly
The Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa will hold its General Assembly in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire July 11-13.
Around the Ringswill be on the scene for the meeting.Lassana Palenfo is running for a final four-year term, and a contested race is schedule for ANOCA Secretary General. IncumbentKhaled Zein El Din is running against long-serving IOC staffer Thomas Sithole.
Jacques Rogge continues his farewell tour, heading to the meeting on July 11.
The 2020 bid teams will attend, but will not present, and the six IOC Presidential hopefuls are also expected to attend.
2013 Universiade
Kazan, Russia plays host to the Universiade.
Badminton, boxing, diving, football, synchronized swimming and water polo each get underway Friday ahead of Saturday’s opening ceremony.
A total of 10,442 university athletes from 162 countries will compete across 27 sports, most of which also feature on the Summer Olympics program.
Events run through July 17.
ATR will be on the scene for the competition.
Tour de France Continues
Cyclists will continue to wind their way through France as the Tour de France rides on.
The Tour started on June 29 and ends in Paris on July 21. The Tour is cycling's most prestigious competition.
Deaflympics Virtual Torch Relay
Torchbearers will carry the virtual flame for the Deaflympics.
Cyclists began passing the torch, which is technically a miner’s lamp, last month in France, ahead of the 24th Deaflympics which start in Sofia, Bulgaria on July 26 and run until August 4.
A total of 3500 athletes from 96 countries will compete in 18 different sports.
