The Lima 2019 Organizing Committee has announced Petramás as the newest gold sponsor of the Pan American and Parapan American Games. The partnership between the Americas’ largest multi-sport event and the Peruvian waste management company will help deliver the first ever carbon-neutral Pan American and Parapan American Games.
Lima 2019 President Carlos Neuhaus and Petramás CEO Jorge Zegarra Reátegui signed the agreement at the brand new Aquatic Center at the Videna Sports Complex over the weekend. As a part of the top-tier gold sponsorship, Petramás will be in charge of mitigating the Games’ carbon footprint. The Peruvian company will contribute over USD $2 million and issue 370,000 Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) for the Games.

This gold sponsorship agreement with Petramás supports our mission to leave a lasting sports legacy for future generations of Peruvians and is yet another significant measure in establishing a more sustainable model for future hosts."
Petramás will eliminate 370,000 tons of carbon footprint that will be produced during the Games to achieve the carbon-neutral goal. A key initiative will be water conservation systems, including recycling the water used in the Pan American and Parapan American Village to be used in watering the green areas of Videna.
Lima 2019 will showcase the Petramás logo as official sponsors of the Games during the Pan American and Parapan American Games. Petramás, as a part of the gold sponsorship agreement, will display the Lima 2019 logo across mobile advertisements on its various service vehicles. The Peruvian company will also present the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games every Saturday during the Petramás TV space it holds on the Peruvian national channel Panamericana.
ABOUT LIMA 2019
The Lima 2019 Pan American Games is the largest event in the history of Peru and will gather 6,680 athletes from 41 countries and delegations from the Americas. The Games will include 39 sports and 62 disciplines, in which athletes will compete for gold, silver and bronze medals. 23 disciplines will be qualifiers for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
There will be 17 days of competitions and ceremonies, from July 26 – August 11, 2019, which will take place in 14 districts of Lima and Callao at various venues like VIDENA, Villa María Sports Center, Callao Regional Village, Villa El Salvador Sports Center, Punta Rocas, among others.
The Parapan American Games will set a new standard for accessibility and inclusivity in Peru and will gather 1,890 Para athletes from 33 countries, participating in 17 sports and 18 disciplines. Competitions will take place from August 23 – September 1, 2019. 14 sports will be qualifiers for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
