Lausanne, 5 January 2020 - Following the bad weather conditions of the last few hours, the authorities of Les Diablerets, in collaboration with specialists from the International Ski Federation (FIS) and the Lausanne 2020 Organising Committee as well as with the International Olympic Committee (IOC), have made the decision to modify the route of the Jorasse "Willy Favre" ski run, the site planned for the Alpine Ski races of the upcoming Winter Youth Olympic Games. The finish of the races will be at the "Rachy" site, a few hundred metres higher than the originally planned arrival area..

Bad weather conditions

Following the rainfall the last 24 hours in the area, the last section of the Jorasse ski run, between the "Rachy" site and the arrival at the village of Les Diablerets, although still practicable for leisure skiing, is no longer suitable for competition. After carrying out various field tests, the parties involved decided by mutual agreement to move the finish line up a few hundred meters. This concerns the Super-G, Combined, Giant Slalom and Slalom races. The team events, scheduled for 15 January, will be evaluated in the coming days.

The celebration remains at the village level

The arrival area will remain in its current location. Spectators who wish to do so will of course be able to get to the Rachy level on foot from the resort or on skis from the top of the Meilleret area. But the celebration will still take place at village level.

No other changes are planned on any of the other competition sites at this stage.
