(ATR) Paul Tergat will have to wait a little longer to be elected as the new head of the Kenya National Olympic Committee.

The NOC-K elections were called off on Friday morning, just hours before they were supposed to take place, according to reports from Kenya.

The Kenya Taekwondo Association went to court and was granted a temporary injunction delaying the vote.

The Centre for Multiparty Democracy in Kenya, which is overseeing the elections, had ruled that the taekwondo and cycling federations weren’t allowed to take part.

Tergat is running unopposed for the NOC-K presidency. Incumbent Kip Keino, who has been in charge for almost 20 years, failed to secure support for another term.

Elections are to be contested for a total of 11 positions.

NOC-K recently passed a new constitution, ending an autonomy standoff that threatened a suspension by the IOC.

Kenya had been under threat of suspension after conflicts between the country’s sports ministry and the NOC-K created autonomy issues. After the Rio 2016 Olympics numerous NOC-K officials were arrested for graft, and the sports ministry attempted to disband the NOC citing "mismanagement."
