(ATR) The media blitz in Lausanne is beginning to fade as media members and International Olympic Committee members depart the Olympic capital following a major decision taken about the doping crisis in sport.
On Tuesday, the IOC Executive Board led by President Thomas Bach chose to suspend the Russian Olympic Committee yet paved a way for neutral Russian athletes to participate in the upcoming PyeongChang 2018 Olympics. The decision came on the back of commission investigations into the Russian doping scandal by Denis Oswald and Samuel Schmid.
On Wednesday, Bach notified the International Weightlifting Federation that it is not likely to be dropped from the Olympic program if it continues its doping reforms. The International Boxing Association received worse news on Wednesday, with Bach putting the federation on notice for its months-long internal conflict surrounding financial mismanagement and political infighting.
