(ATR) International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach visited with leaders of the Paris 2024 Olympic bid as well as French President Francois Hollande over the weekend to understand the bid's aspirations and strengths.

The IOC president visited a new athletic training center before having dinner with the Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo and meeting with Hollande.

"We wanted to show him a few things and for him to meet the team," Paris 2024 chief executive Etienne Thobois tells Around the Rings.

"It gave us an opportunity to show him the project, its capacity and all the infrastructure there," Thobois says. "It was a good opportunity to show all of those iconic venues in Paris that will be at the center of the Games."

After meeting with Hollande, Bach said he was impressed by the unity of the bid and all of its supporters at the local and national levels, according to Thobois.

"That is what we wanted to show; a bid that is led by the sports movement but with the support of the institutions starting with the President and the national government and the city of Paris with Mayor Hidalgo who is very active."

Chief executive of Paris 2024 Etienne Thobois talks about these developments and more on the latest edition of ATRadio with ATR Editor Ed Hula.
