(ATR) Thomas Bach will take part in the 15th Francophonie Summit in Dakar this weekend.

Bach is attending the Saturday and Sunday meeting to show support for the work of Francophonie in advancing the French language in the Olympic Movement. The conference theme is "Women and Youth: Vectors of Peace and Actors in Development."

It’s the first time any IOC president has attended a Francophonie Summit.

The German will be accompanied by IOC director general Christophe De Kepper, according to FrancsJeux.

Bach is set to meet with French president François Hollande, Canadian prime minister Stephen Harper and officials from the Senegalese government.

He will also hold talks with the IAAF’s Senegalese president Lamine Diack and IOC member Prince Albert of Monaco.

The IOC president is scheduled to present the Olympic Order to Abdou Diouf, secretary general of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), at a reception on Saturday night.

Bach’s visit to Senegal comes just a few days before a landmark moment in his IOC presidency.

Following an IOC Executive Board meeting in Monaco next week, his Olympic Agenda 2020 reforms bill will be put to the vote at an Extraordinary Session on Dec. 8 and 9. The IOC membership will be asked to approve 40 proposals that will bring sweeping changes to the Olympic Movement.
