(ATR) After a year of anticipation, the IOC Executive Board meets Dec. 5-6 in Monaco to organize procedures for the adoption of recommendations for Olympic Agenda 2020.
This meeting will precede the official opening of the IOC Extraordinary Session on Dec. 7.
Recommendations for Olympic Agenda 2020 represent the next giant steps to be taken in reforming the Olympic Movement. Proposed changes include establishing a more attractive bidding process for cities interested in hosting the Olympics and more flexibility for the Olympic Program.
During the Extraordinary Session, the IOC will also select a host city for its 2017 session. Helsinki, Finland and Lima, Peru are vying to host the event.
Deadline for U.S. Cities Hoping to Bid for 2024 Games
Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington, D.C. must all turn in bid proposals for the 2024 Olympics to the United States Olympic Committee on Dec. 1.
Around the Rings previously learneda decision on a United States 2024 bid will be made in January.
Financial details are due in the spring, according to report on the Washington Business Journal.
FINA in Doha
The International Swimming Federation (FINA) concludes its third World Aquatics Convention on Dec. 1 inDoha, Qatar.
FINA officials say "over 40 industry leaders hosted top-level business meetings at booths" throughout the convention.During the three-day exhibition, FINA held an Extraordinary Congress and a clinic for over 200 participating coaches.
Doha will also host the12th edition of the FINA World Swimming Championships Dec. 3-7.
Women's Hockey Champions Trophy
The 21st edition of the Women's Hockey Champions Trophy is underway inMendoza, Argentina.
Countries competing at this year's event are Argentina, Australia, China, England, Germany, Japan, The Netherlands and New Zealand.
