(ATR) Delegations from the four candidate cities will travel to Lausanne next month for meetings with IOC officials about phase two of the bidding process.

Around the Rings has learned that the IOC is hosting individual workshops for Budapest, Los Angeles, Paris and Rome from July 12-15.

Discussions will center on stage two of the three-phase candidature process, focusing on Governance, Legal and Venue funding.

"The workshops will cover these stage two deliverables as part of the IOC’s continued dialogue with and assistance to the candidate cities in line with Olympic Agenda 2020, and follows successful workshops that were held in stage one," an IOC spokeswoman told ATR.

Jacqueline Barrett, associate director of Olympic candidatures, will lead the July meetings, with experts in relevant fields also contributing.

The IOC told ATR each one-day workshop will focus on: financial matters; governance and legal matters; and marketing.

Presentations will be followed by detailed discussions, allowing the participants "to fully address any relevant points and to assist the cities to continue building solid projects which fit with the long-term development plans of the city and region and will leave a sustainable legacy".

Earlier this month, the IOC Executive Board advanced all four bids to the second phase of the contest. President Thomas Bach told a press conference in Lausanne that they were embracing Agenda 2020 reforms. He didn’t flag up any major issues.

Barrett said she and her IOC colleagues in the Olympic Games department were "very happy" with the progress being made by the bids. "I think we have four great bids," she told ATR at the time of the IOC board meeting.

The bid books covering governance, legal and venue funding are due with the IOC on Oct. 7. The stage three bid file on Games delivery, experience and venue legacy has a Feb. 3 deadline.

The IOC’s host city vote takes place in Lima, Peru in September 2017.
