(ATR) IOC president Thomas Bach is in the middle of the IOC's final three-day project review of Rio 2016 with the Games now less than two months away.

The IOC is inspecting venues, checking final preparations and meeting with Brazil’s new leadership to make sure everything goes off without a hitch beginning with the opening ceremony on Aug. 5.

On Wednesday, Bach attended the inauguration of the Rio Olympic Village, the venue that will house thousands of the world’s best athletes in August.

Afterwards, Bach met with Brazil’s interim President Michel Temer for the first time to discuss the national government’s support of the Games. Around the Rings’ Rio correspondent Aaron Bauer is on the scene for the IOC project review and says Bach was pleased with their first meeting.

"Bach seemed inspired that Temer cleared his schedule to meet him face-to-face and discuss a few important items on the agenda," Bauer says.

The medal designs for the Olympics and Paralympic were also revealed for the first time during the IOC visit. The medals are sleek and slim with an emphasis on sustainability. The 2016 Games also mark the first time Paralympic medals will be equipped with technology that allows athletes to hear the medals.

Bauer talks more about Bach’s final trip to the host country prior to the Games below:
