IOC CoComm Headed to PyeongChang -- Monday Memo

(ATR) The IOC coordination commission for the 2018 Winter Olympics will meet in PyeongChang, Sept. 22-24.

Members of the coordination commission, which is chaired by Gunilla Lindberg, include Ottavio Cinquanta, Prince Frederik of Denmark, Rene Fasel, Gian-Franco Kasper, Barry Maister, Adam Pengilly, Angela Ruggiero, Tsunekazu Takeda, Zaiqing Yu, Tatiana Dobrokhvalova, Edgar Grospiron, and Todd Nicholson.

The 2018 Winter Games will open in PyeongChang on Feb. 9.

Test events for the PyeongChang Olympics will take place at the Gangneung Ice Arena in Dec. 2016 (ISU Short Track Speed Skating World Cup) and Feb. 2017 (ISU Figure Skating Four Continents Championship).

Cycling World Championships

The 2015 Road Cycling World Championships are underway in the U.S. city of Richmond, Virginia.

The International Cycling Union says some 1,000 athletes will compete at this year's championships. Organizers expect 450,000 spectators to come out to watch competition, which ends on Sept. 27.

ATRreporter Nicole Bennett will be in Richmond, Sept. 25-27, to cover the championships.

Rugby World Cup

England is this years hostcountryfor the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

Cities including Cardiff, Birmingham, Brighton, Exeter, Gloucester, Leeds, Leicester, London, Manchester, Milton Keynes, and Newcastle will host matches throughout the course of competition.

Twenty teams will compete in the 2015 Rugby World Cup, which ends on Oct. 31.
