(ATR) Preparations for the next three Olympics and first winter Youth Olympic Games, as well as actions on the recommendations from the 2009 Congress, top the agenda for the IOC Executive Board convening Wednesday and Thursday.
Leaders from London 2012, Sochi 2014 and Rio 2016 will update the IOC's ruling body Wednesday.
With Innsbruck 2012 YOG organizers marking the one-year-to-go mark on Thursday, special attention will be paid to the pace and progress of Austria's winter edition. Innsbruck CEO Peter Bayer is scheduled to report to the IOC.
The three 2018 Winter Olympic candidates, who submitted their bid files to the IOC by the Jan. 11 deadline, are also expected to come up for discussion.
Delegations from Annecy and Pyeongchang delivered their bid dossiers on Monday, Munich Tuesday. The IOC vote on the host city at the Session in Durban on July 6 is one of the key events on this year's Olympic calendar.
A joint meeting of the executive board and the Athletes’ Commission is planned on Wednesday, the first day of the IOC's two-day meeting. NOC-related matters are also on the agenda.
Other topics for EB discussion are developments in negotiations for a new U.S. TV rights deal - the IOC’s largest source of revenue.
The IOC isconsidering packaging the rights for four Olympics instead of the usual two. Major players including NBC, ESPN and Fox are said to be interested in a deal that would include Sochi 2014 through the 2020 Olympics.
The IOC’s lead negotiator Richard Carrion will be updating president Jacques Rogge and his colleagues on the EB.
Board members are also scrutinizing follow-up actions to the 66 recommendations that came from the IOC Congressin Copenhagen in October 2009. An IOC commission appointed by Rogge has beenworkingthrough the recommendations.
They included proposals to get young people more engaged in sport, to better protect athletes after their sporting careers and to use the new Youth Olympic Games as a model for youth competition.
Congress delegates also called for the creation of a digital task force to help national Olympic committees, international federations and other Olympic organisations take full advantage of new media and digital technology to promote the Olympic values and participation in sport.
A press briefing will be held at the IOC's Lausanne headquarters on Wednesday evening.
The IOC president's wrap-up news conference comes on Thursday.
