Gracenote Sports just announced its latest Virtual Medal Table (VMT) predictions for the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics which show Germany taking the lead in overall medals from Norway.

Below are projections for the top 10 nations along with medal counts:

Germany: 35 total medals (14 gold, 12 silver, 9 bronze) Norway: 34 total medals (12 gold, 11 silver, 11 bronze) United States: 32 total medals (10 gold, 9 silver, 13 bronze) France: 20 total medals (9 gold, 7 silver, 4 bronze) Austria: 15 total medals (7 gold, 2 silver, 6 bronze) Korea: 9 total medals (7 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze) Netherlands: 19 total medals (6 gold, 10 silver, 3 bronze) Russia: 22 total medals (6 gold, 6 silver, 10 bronze) China: 9 total medals (6 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze) Canada: 27 total medals (5 gold, 13 silver, 9 bronze)Other predictions to note:

A record 29 different countries are expected to win medals at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games, breaking the previous high of 26 won at the last three Winter Games. Germany is currently forecast to top the medal table (ahead of Norway and the United States) with Biathlete Laura Dahlmeier leading the medal count with a total of six. Norway will rely heavily on its Cross-Country Skiing team for success. Team USA looks to equal its best performance since Salt Lake City 2002 with 10 gold medals. France is forecast to have its best-ever Olympics but will depend on its Biathletes for success. Austria is set for its best gold medal return and highest medal table ranking since 2006. Host nation Korea should outperform its record gold medal haul (Torino 2006, Vancouver 2010). The Netherlands poised to achieve its second-best Winter Games performance. Russia will decline post-Sochi 2014 but still deliver third-best Winter Games performance since USSR break up.
