The first edition of the African Beach Games, which will be held on the island of Sal in Cabo Verde, will receive official coverage by the Olympic Channel. The competition will run from the 14 to 23 of June 2019 on Santa Maria beach.

The agreement between the two parties was signed by Yann Craven and Filomena Fortes, the CEO and the President of the African Beach Games Organising Committee (COJAP), and by Mark Parkman and Kostas Karvelas, representatives of the Olympic Channel Services.

This memorandum of understanding will allow the Olympic Channel to have access to the live transmission signal of Sal 2019 and distribute free of charge content, at a global level, through www.olympicchannel.com

During the Games, Olympic Channel representatives will be based in Sal and, besides providing global coverage of the event, will also establish a space for interviews with athletes and creation of additional content.

Launched in 2016, the Olympic Channel is an online platform developed by the International Olympic Committee that can be viewed live via download or streaming, video on demand, or through other mobile technology platforms. The Olympic Channel currently reaches an audience of 3 million people.
