(ATR)The 2015 SportAccord Convention World Sport & Business Summit is underway in Sochi.

On April 20, Marius Vizer is expected to be re-elected as SportAccord president for a full four-year term. Vizer ran unopposed for the presidency.

SportAccord Convention estimates that representatives from over 1,000 organizations, 100 sport federations and close to 250 exhibitors have gathered at the Sochi Expo Center.

Around the Rings is on the scene for the conference, and a special edition magazine is available at the event.

IOC President Thomas Bach is one of 15 IOC members who will be present in some capacity, whether representing the IOC or an international federation.

Ukraine President to Lausanne

Following his stop in Sochi, the IOC chief travels back to Lausanne where hewill meet with President Petro Porochenko on Apr. 21. This marks Bach's first meeting withPorochenko who took office in June 2014.

The pair is expected to discuss the current situation in Ukraine and how sport can help unite the country.

After leaving Lausanne, Bach will head to India Apr. 26-27.

ASOIF Council

The council of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) meets onApril 21 inSochi.

The meeting will take place in the backdrop of SportAccord Convention.

The ASOIF Council is slated to discuss its share of revenue from the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, among other key agenda items.

Baku 2015 Torch Relay

Pat Hickey, president of theEuropean Olympic Committees,will be in Baku, Azerbaijan this week for the lighting of the inaugural European Games torch.

The relay, which begins on April 25, will travel to 51 cities across the country.

EOC evaluation commission chair Spyros Capralos will also be involved, ATR European editor Mark Bisson reports.

World Table Tennis Championships

The 2015 World Table Tennis Championships will take place April 26-May 3in Suzhou, China.

This marks the fifth time the International Table Tennis Federation has staged the world championships in China.

Boston Marathon

The annual Boston Marathon takes place on April20.

First held in 1897, the event attracts some 500,000 spectators each year and around 30,000 registered participants.

Boston, Hamburg, Paris and Rome have announced their candidacies for the 2024 Summer Olympics. Baku, Budapest and India may bid as well.
