El Comité Olímpico Venezolano de la mano de la Federación Internacional de Hockey y la Federación Venezolana de Hockey sobre Césped llevaron a cabo el primer festejo en el país del Día Olímpico. Desde el ovaló del Instituto Nacional del Deporte, 8 colegios educativos de la ciudad de Caracas y las asociaciones de hockey de los estados Vargas y Miranda se sumaron a la celebración que contó con iniciación deportiva, clínicas de hockey sala y partidos amistosos. Actividades con el mismo fin en común: enseñar deporte, olimpismo y valores a los infantes.
"El hockey venezolano celebró el día olímpico. Hicimos encuentros amistosos con el Colegio Británico de Caracas y las asociaciones de Vargas y Miranda, chicos de hasta 14 años de edad. Y clínicas para incentivar a la práctica del deporte con estudiantes de la parroquia La Vega, niños desde los 5 años. Me alegra ver a estos pequeños comenzar en el deporte, son un posible relevo a la selección nacional". Indicó la Lcda. Zuleika Seijas presidenta de FeveHockey y miembro de la junta directiva COV.
A su vez, Yaner Velasqués integrante de la selección venezolana señaló. "Hoy compartí con una gran cantidad de muchachos, una nueva generación del hockey césped nacional y me agrado ver la emoción por aprender. El hockey como todo deporte es un incentivo a una vida con valores, básicos en el movimiento olímpico y eso es lo que queremos lograr. Niños con más deporte y que el día de mañana sean orgullo de Venezuela".
El día olímpico se celebra el 23 de junio desde 1948 por los 206 CON’s asociados al COI. Para conmemorar el nacimiento de los modernos Juegos Olímpicos con el objetivo de promover la práctica deportiva sin exclusión, tal como se establece en la Carta Olímpica. #diaolimpico #cov #2019
