(ATR) Los I Juegos Panamericanos Junior de Cali aún no anuncian cambio de fecha tras conocerse que los aplazados Juegos Olímpicos de Tokio se disputarán en el verano de 2021.
"Es muy pronto para hablar de eso" dijo a Around the Rings el secretario general de Panam Sports, Ivar Sisniega.
Los Juegos de Cali 2021 están programados entre el 5 y el 20 de junio para deportistas juveniles hasta 23 años.
Sisniega reconoció que si bien ya se conoce que entre el 23 de julio y el 8 de agosto del próximo año se disputarán los Juegos Olímpicos "todavía no terminan los ajustes en el calendario internacional".
El experimentado directivo mexicano se refería a la necesidad de conocer cómo quedaría el mapa de fechas en torno a campeonatos mundiales y otros megaventos.
La Federación Internacional del Deporte Universitario (FISU) ha aprobado que las Universiadas Mundiales en Chengdu, China, fueron cambiadas de fecha , ahora del 18 al 29 de agosto de 2021. Originalmente fueron previstas del 16 al 27 de agosto .
"Hoy aún no puedo comentar sobre eso" dijo en alusión a si los Juegos de Cali 2021 tendrían que moverse o no de la fecha aprobada.
Panam Sports ha dado un firme apoyo a la decisión tomada por el COI y las autoridades gubernamentales y deportivas de Japón con respecto al aplazamiento de los Juegos Olimpicos de Tokio 2020 como consecuencia del brote del coronavirus.
Sisniega reiteró que Panam Sports trabajará junto con el COI, las Federaciones Internacionales, los CON y los atletas, ante este nuevo panorama en el que por primera vez en la historia unos Juegos Olimpicos han tenido que ser postergados.
