(ATR) Buenos Aires will host the 2018 Youth Olympic Games.

The decision came today at the extraordinary IOC Session in Lausanne.

Buenos Aires edged Medellin in the second round of voting 49 to 38. In the first round BA polled 40 votes, Medellin 32 and Glasgow 13, eliminating the Scottish bid.

Glasgow and Medellin, Colombia were the other bid cities.

Buenos Aires proposed a total of 26 venues, located in two city center zones: "The Green Corridor" and "Roca Park." Twenty-two of the proposed venues are already built and 96 percent of venues are within 35km and 30 minutes of the Youth Olympic Village.

Documents from Buenos Aires 2018 say theorganizing committee will have a budget of $104.69 million and $126.4 million will be allocated for the non-Organizing Committee budget.

The city is hosting the IOC Session in September, whiich may have helped the YOG bid, BA was an early candidate in the race for the 2004 Summer Olympics.
