(ATR) Budapest 2024 bid leader Balazs Furjes tells Around the Rings that hosting the Games in Budapest would show the Olympics aren’t just for mega-cities.

"The question is: is the Olympic Games simply for the mega-city?" Furjes asks. "Or for the midsize global cities too? And the Games for one midsize global city is the Games for all midsize global cities and Budapest could definitely encourage other cities that have the ambition, the ability, the capability and the will to stage the Olympic Games."

Furjes spoke with ATR Editor Ed Hula the day after his presentation with the rest of the bid team to the ANOC General Assembly on Tuesday. The 20-minute presentation highlighted how Budapest could benefit the Olympic Games and serve as an alternative choice to the mega-cities of Los Angeles and Paris.
