(ATR) Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Evaluation Commission chairman Patrick Baumann tells Around the Rings the report on the city’s preparations for the 2028 Summer Games will be finalized on Monday.

"It is coming along well as all main aspects of the very solid 2024 LA project remain, as expected, unchanged and were already examined and included by the Commission in the Report issued in July," Baumann tells ATR in exclusive comments.

Instead of revisiting Los Angeles with a full commission visit as it did in May, the evaluation took place over the phone on Aug. 25.

The phone call followed the official approval of the host city contract by the Los Angeles City Council on Aug. 11. The city council agreed to cover any cost overruns from the Olympic project which the LA 2028 bid leaders are confident will not occur due to its predominantly private-funded bid.

The LA Olympic project is expected to get another vote of confidence from the California State Legislature on Sept. 15. The state lawmakers have proposed a bill to provide up to $270 million in guarantees should the LA 2028 bid go over budget, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Los Angeles will undoubtedly be confirmed by the International Olympic Committee as hosts of the 2028 Summer Games during the IOC Session on Sept. 13 in Lima, Peru.

The IOC membership must still approve the tripartite agreement between Paris, LA and the IOC Executive Board that gives the 2024 edition to Paris and 2028 to LA, but this is expected to be rubberstamped with little fanfare.

Nonetheless, each city will still give a 25-minute presentation to the IOC delegates at the Lima Convention Center before signing their respective host city contracts.
