(ATR) Intel wants developers to come up with the next best use of artificial intelligence at the next Olympic Games.

"Today, we’re inviting the developer community to join us in potentially creating an amazing AI experience for fans and athletes at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 by submitting their ideas through the Intel AI Challenge for the Olympic Game," Naveen Rao, corporate vice president and general manager, Artificial Intelligence Product Group, Intel, said in a statement.

Intel joined the TOP sponsor program with the IOC last year in a "long term technology" partnership through the 2024 Olympics. During the signing ceremony Intel said it would be working on 5G telecom networks, virtual reality, drones, and artificial intelligence.

During the opening and closing ceremonies of the PyeongChang Olympics Intel brought coordinated drone light shows to showcase its technologies. The company says it hopes to take that a step further in Tokyo with artificial intelligence.

Developers will be asked to make submissions by June 13 on Intel’s website, here. According to a release from Intel "no idea is too big or too small to consider".

Winners of the contest will receive part of a $10,000 Visa gift card prize pool.

"Now we are excited to see how Intel will use artificial intelligence to help bring the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 to the next level – connecting fans and athletes like never before," Timo Lumme, managing director of the IOC Television and Marketing Services, said in a statement.

Beijing Product Licenses

The Beijing 2022 organizing committee is seeking suppliers to make items for six different categories of products for its official merchandise program.

The products will be in the categories of "badges, key chains and other non-precious metal products, clothes and accessories, silk works, articles of precious metal, stationery and ceramic products," according to the ECNS news wire.

Companies interested have until May 30 to apply for the tender, before a judging committee will select the winning bids. Beijing 2022 opened its first physical stores in January, and have expanded to have 16 outlets in addition to an online store.

FIVB Revamps Digital Offerings

The International Volleyball Federation is creating a new digital channel for its content in partnership with Microsoft.

FIVB said that the platform will be built with Microsoft Azure, and allow for live streaming of federation events, and premium content for subscribers, according to a release.

"This is a great opportunity for us to work together for the benefit of everyone, especially the global volleyball family, as we open an exciting new chapter in this digital age," FIVB president Ary S. Graça said in a statement.

"While Microsoft can provide technological expertise, we want to show our vision to engage and expand our loyal volleyball fan base. By providing highly engaging digital content, which speaks directly to the specific interests of our fans, we believe we can significantly enhance fan experience all-season round."
