Starting this November, all fans, the media, national federations, coaches, athletes and their relatives are able to easily find all athletes who have earned WTF World Ranking and Olympic Ranking points; the WTF Profile. This idea was developed with the aim of promoting taekwondo in an interactive way and bringing the WTF community together.

Anthony Ferguson, a WTF Council member, expressed his excitement by saying, "As did our PSS and video replay, this latest development will indeed vault the WTF atop many International Federations not only with respect to our rankings and profile, but most importantly, the attendant transparency of the process."

"Having the Results & Rankings in one central, easily accessible location is a tremendous resource for our members. This site will generate excitement in all kyorugi weight categories and provide much needed structure for future competitions," said Mark Kaufmann, the Events Manager of the WTF Global Membership System (GMS).

Javier E. Altamirano, Operations and Marketing Manager of the WTF GMS, explains the design, layout and content selected. "We researched best practices from other martial arts, International Sports Federations and sports leagues worldwide for showing rankings, we wanted to give the taekwondo fans and coaches the easiest possible look and feel when searching for their stars’ rankings."

An official profile for each athlete

For Altamirano, it is all about the athletes in the center of the stage. "We want it to be a great honor for our athletes to be shown on this site." He also explains that each athlete has a personal page now. "The WTF Profile is a dedicated athlete’s page that opens by clicking on each member’s number. It shows the athlete’s name, picture, Dan rank, club name (if applicable), country, ranking divisions. All the above showing respect for the athlete’s country, hence the flag size and position."

WTF Profile of an Athlete

Justin Tenbeth, the Director of the WTF GMS, sees a great future for this central platform for storage and access to large amounts of information. "In the future, we will see latest results, detailed statistics on the fights, videos, pictures, bio information and much more available through this platform as time progresses. This will provide the necessary information to media and TV broadcasters to give more exposure for our athletes and the sport in general to continue to popularize taekwondo globally".

Historical results available on the Global Membership System

"An added value for all members who hold a WTF Licence is the ability to see results of past and current G-rated tournaments. This is by clicking on the RESULTS tab on the WTF Licence System," he said.

WTF Licence holders have the following results views starting from 2014:

Per Weight category and month for both; World and Olympic Rankings.

Per MNA and month for both; World and Olympic Rankings.

Per Athlete and month for both; World and Olympic Rankings.

"The WTF GMS Team, our IT partner, HangAStar, and our colleagues in the Korean office have worked tirelessly for the last several months to import the last 5 years historical Results and Rankings into the GMS," he said.
