Turkish Airlines renews World Archery sponsorship through 2015

Turkish Airlines, the official airline of World Archery, has announced a two-year extension of its sponsorship of the federation and its international archery events.

Long-time supporter of the Archery World Cup and other international archery events, Turkish Airlines has renewed its partnership deal with World Archery until the end of the 2015 season.

Turkish Airlines became the official airline of World Archery with the launch of the Archery World Cup in 2006. It has supported the growth of the World Cup circuit and archery’s evolution into one of the core Olympic sports. The organisation will retain its airline sector exclusivity for the duration of the extension.

Included in the extension is the 12kg additional luggage allowance certificate for archery equipment. Available to all athletes, staff and official travelling to World Archery events, the new certificate can be found on the World Archery website and should be presented upon check-in.

Over the last eight years, Turkish Airlines – the global network carrier – has seen the value of its association with World Archery consistently increase as the sport gains wider exposure. Archery is now regularly broadcast on television channels around the world, offers one of the best live event experiences on the Olympic programme and receives significant international press coverage.

Turkey has hosted an Archery World Cup stage in Antalya since first edition in 2006 – and in 2013, the World Archery Championships were held in Belek. Turkey’s junior archery athletes are finding sustained success, having picked up medals at both the World Archery Youth Championships and World Archery Indoor championships in the last six months.

World Archery President Prof Dr Ugur ERDENER said: "We are extremely thankful to Turkish Airlines for its continued support of not only our federation but our athletes, officials and staff that travel worldwide to events. Turkish Airlines is the best airline in Europe – and an airline that cares about its passengers and excellence, in aviation and in sport."
