While the Tour de France, broadcast in 190 countries, will offer the most beautiful images of our sport to viewers around the world, it is important to remember that the Association Internationale des Organisateurs de Courses Cyclistes (AIOCC) works and supports the organizers of all continents and races of all levels.
The Tour is our beautiful showcase, but we know how difficult it can be to set up events far from Europe where our sport has had the advantage of growing and developing for decades. The reform of the professional calendar from 2020, and the presence of North American as well as Asian events at the highest level worldwide confirm this essential openness.
Transport and logistics are real challenges when it comes to moving riders, team staff, dozens of bikes, and hundreds of pounds of equipment of all kinds.
The AIOCC is aware of these difficulties and has been working for years to support the organizers to find the most effective solutions, and to collaborate with the Association Internationale des Groupes Cyclistes Professionnels (AIGCP) and the Cyclistes Professionnels Associés (CPA).
There is still some progress to be made, but the fact that our association has a seat at the table of the UCIs Professional Cycling Council (PCC) makes it possible to weigh-in on the decisions and to defend the interests of all our members from the five continents.
Thus, by giving each organizer the keys to setting up high standard events, cycling will continue to progress around the world."
