(ATR)The World Takewondo Federation conducted sweeping organizational and personnel changes.
In a statement released on Thursday, World Taekwondo said new departments, and in some cases renamed departments, took effect at the WTF on June 9.
The newly established education department, led bydeputy secretary general Eil-chul Kim, will oversee educational programs for referees, coaches and instructors, as well as cyber education and WTF regional training centers.
Jin-bang Yang, director general of the WTF Seoul headquarters, will head the new event department.
Two World Taekwondo leaders have switched roles at the WTF.
Previously at the helm of the WTF public relations department,Seok-jae Kang will replace Hee-soo Noh at the helm ofthe international affairs department under its new title:member relations & development.
Hee-soo Noh will now head the new WTF communications department, formerly the PR department.
The marketing department is now led by deputy secretary general Jung-ae Park.
A newly established finance department will be led by Byung-chun Jeon, andOlof Hansson will headthe newly expanded Para-taekwondo department.
To mark all of these changes, World Taekwondo is holding a two-day workshop on June 30 and July 1. WTF president Chungwon Choue and secretary general Hoss Rafaty will be in attendance.
The WTF also plans to hold a reception on June 22 at its new headquarters in downtown Seoul to celebrate the move from Seongnam in Gyeonggi Province to Jongno-gu in Seoul.
The announcement comes on the heels of the latest IOC Executive Board meeting in Lausanne, during which Tokyo 2020 finalized a batch of venues for the Summer Games.
Taekwondo, fencing, and wrestling are taking place at Makuhari Messe.
