The Vladimir Potanin Foundation has opened the application process for scholarships and grants to join the Russian International Olympic University’s (RIOU) prestigious Master of Sport Administration course in the 2017/18 academic year.

The Foundation’s Olympic Scholarships Program will provide aspiring sports administrators with the chance to study in Sochi – the host city of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games – on RIOU’s full-time 10-month course, which will equip them with the cutting edge skills required for the fast-paced sports industry, and offer extensive networking opportunities through real-world placements at sports events.

In addition to scholarships for students, the Vladimir Potanin Foundation is also offering grants for professors to teach on the 2017/18 edition of RIOU’s Master of Sport Administration course.

The Director General of the Vladimir Potanin Foundation, Oksana Oracheva, said: "The programme, launched by the Foundation on the threshold of the Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014, has proved to be very successful and continues to go from strength to strength.

"Extending the programme to include grants for professors was a decision we took for the first time last year, providing RIOU with the opportunity to attract international names in sports education. We’re delighted to be offering both the scholarships for students and grants for professors once again in 2017/18, as we are helping to grow RIOU’s reputation as a unique centre of Olympic education and a home for world-class teaching professionals."

RIOU’s current MSA intake includes 18 students from 13 countries on Vladimir Potanin Foundation scholarships and 10 professors from eight countries receiving grants.

RIOU Rector Professor Lev Belousov, said:

"This year the grant programme for professors is expanding, ensuring RIOU’s high-quality faculty is reaching even higher standards.

"We are able to invite the best professionals in sports management from leading universities around the world to teach at RIOU, so it is not surprising that the competition for scholarships and regular enrolment at our University is also strong. RIOU is working jointly with the Vladimir Potanin Foundation for the fifth year in a row, and their support has helped students from more than 40 countries to study at RIOU and earn a Master of Sport Administration diploma."
