New Online Weightlifting Cups

(ATR) Virtual competitions and seminars continue in Latin America on the way to the U-17 Online World Cup in Lima.

(ATR) New online weightlifting competitions and seminars will take place in Latin America ahead of the unprecedented virtual U-17 World Championship in Lima in November.

The Colombian Federation will be in charge of the competitions with the support of the International Weightlifting Federation, the South American Federation and the Ibero-American Federation.

The tournaments, for athletes of either gender over 15 years of age, will be held from October 2 to 5 and will be broadcast on the Zoom platform.

The South American Senior Cup, the Ibero-American Senior Cup and the Colombia 2020 Cup are the other competitions to be held.

The invitation from the Colombian Federation was addressed to the national federations of South America and Latin America and to those affiliated with the IWF.

MORE PAN AMERICAN SEMINARS

On September 19, a new technical videoconference has been scheduled with experts Maritza Ortiz (Dominican Republic), Gustavo Malgor (Argentina) and Italo Barattini (Chile).

Ortiz will address the weigh-in issue, Malgor will refer to the timekeeper and Barattini to the referees.

The videoconference will be accessible through the Zoom platform from 4:00 pm (Lima time).

This seminar, supported by the IWF and the Pan American Federation of Weightlifting, follows the virtual Conversation of Technical Officials of America developed five days ago.

Members of the technical committees of the IWF, the FPLP, and the Confederations of South and Central America participated in the meeting.

Among the panelists were Joseph Triolo (USA), Maritza Ortiz (RDO), José Alarcón (ECU), Italo Barattini (CHI), Doris Marrero (VEN), Jaime Echeverría (GUA), and Pedro Torres (VEN).
