The FEI Bureau unanimously approved Montreal as the host city for the 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games on Monday.

Montreal’s victory marks the second time that the World Equestrian Games will be held outside of Europe.

Organizers will use the Bromont Olympic Equestrian Park, the venue for the Montreal 1976 Olympic equestrian events, as the main hub for events during the 2018 games.

"The Bromont Olympic Equestrian Park is an exceptional and proven venue," FEI president Princess Haya said after Montreal was approved as a host city. "[It] will be the ideal location for the eighth edition of the FEI World Equestrian Games, our most global equestrian event."

The only other bidder for the 2018 World Equestrian Games was Lexington, Kentucky in the United States.
